Workspace outbound access protection (OAP) helps you control where data in a Microsoft Fabric workspace can flow. The initial preview for Power BI reports, launched in June, required a report in an OAP-protected workspace to use a semantic model in that same workspace. Customer feedback highlighted that this was too restrictive. With this improvement, a report can now query a semantic model in another workspace provided a workspace administrator explicitly allowed that destination through an OAP exception policy. Apply exception policies to allow report-to-model connections OAP continues to block outbound report-to-model connections by default. When a report opens, Power BI evaluates the report workspace policy before it renders the report in the browser. If the destination workspace is covered by an applicable exception, the report can connect to its semantic model. Otherwise, Power BI blocks the connection, and the report does not open. The report honors the policy that a workspace admin configured for the semantic model destination. You don't configure an exception on each report, and you don't need to move the report and semantic model into the same workspace. The OAP exception

Modern data workflows rarely stop at moving and transforming data. Once data is ready, you may need to trigger another operation in Fabric, refresh a semantic model, update a business application, send a notification, generate a document, or kick off the next step in a business process. With Fabric Actions and Business Actions activities in Microsoft Fabric Data Factory, you can bring these steps directly into your Fabric pipelines. Together, these activities make it easier to orchestrate workflows across Fabric and the business applications your organization relies on, without having to build and maintain custom API integrations for every scenario. We’re continuing to expand what you can do with these activities, with support for more Fabric operations and 25 additional third-party connectors for Business Actions. Bring Fabric operations directly into your pipelines The Fabric Actions activity lets you invoke supported Fabric REST API operations directly from a pipeline. Instead of manually constructing REST API requests and managing the underlying authentication and request details, you can select the Fabric operation you need, configure its inputs, and incorporate it into the re

Data warehouses routinely ingest valuable information embedded in free text, where inconsistent structure makes it difficult to query, connect, and analyze. Incoming values can also require quality checks before they reach curated tables. Microsoft Fabric Data Warehouse and the SQL analytics endpoint now support scalar regular expression functions in preview, so you can extract useful values, validate formats, standardize text, and mask sensitive data directly in T-SQL instead of adding a separate processing step. What’s new in preview Regular expressions provide a concise way to recognize, extract, and transform complex text patterns that would otherwise require multiple string operations. The preview introduces the following scalar functions: REGEXP_LIKE: checks whether text matches a pattern. REGEXP_REPLACE: replaces matching text to clean, standardize, or mask values. REGEXP_SUBSTR: extracts a substring that matches a pattern. REGEXP_INSTR: returns the position of a matching substring. REGEXP_COUNT: counts pattern occurrences in a string. Use these functions during refinement to turn identifiers embedded in free text into structured values and to flag malformed records before t

Organizations increasingly use Microsoft Fabric and Azure Databricks together so teams can choose the tools that best fit their data engineering, analytics, and AI workloads while working from a common data foundation. OneLake external-location support for Azure Databricks Unity Catalog is now Generally available from the Microsoft Fabric side, with OneLake Security enabled by default for Azure Databricks Storage items. With this integration, supported Unity Catalog-managed data can be stored directly in OneLake. To understand the setup and supported scenarios, Connect Azure Databricks to a OneLake external location. Why this matters Data teams often need Azure Databricks and Microsoft Fabric in the same architecture. Without a shared storage approach, organizations may create copies of the same data for different platforms, introduce pipelines whose primary purpose is synchronization, and manage access independently across multiple storage locations. Using OneLake as managed storage for supported Unity Catalog objects gives organizations a common physical data foundation while preserving flexibility in the services used above it. Azure Databricks continues to provide compute and U

About this series This is the first in a six-part Power Query Corner series exploring the new Power Query experience. Each post takes a closer look at a different part of the experience, including what’s changing, why it matters, and how you can put it to work. Getting data doesn't always begin with a connector name. You might know which database to use, recognize a team-maintained Fabric item, want to return to a source from yesterday, or already have the query logic you need. A connector list is useful once you've decided how to connect. But choosing the right data often comes before that decision. We moved to a module-based approach so Get data can support those different starting points, rather than making every task begin with the same connector picker. The idea is simple: start with what you know, then follow the route that fits the task. Modules organize discovery, reconnection, and authoring around that idea. They don't remove the need to authenticate, select the right objects, inspect a preview, or maintain the query afterward. This first Power Query Corner issue follows a sales-report scenario in the new Power BI Desktop experience. It also uses clearly labeled Power Quer

I keep hearing a notification sound on my phone but I can't figure out which app or system feature it belongs to. I've searched through the sound settings and can't find that specific tone anywhere, so I'm wondering what it is and where the setting to change or disable it is hiding.

Difficulty: Intermediate Your team receives invoice PDFs by email. Before approving them, someone needs to find the purchase order, compare the amount, and make sure the invoice has not already been registered. The next invoice starts the same sequence again. If your company already uses Power Automate and SharePoint, how can you use them to automate these checks and the handoff to a reviewer? In this step-by-step tutorial, you will build a Power Automate workflow that reads invoice attachments with AI Builder, checks them against purchase-order data in SharePoint, and sends invoices that pass validation to a person for approval. It records approved and rejected decisions, and flags validation exceptions for investigation. You will see the completed flow and its results first, then build it one step at a time. What is AI Builder? AI Builder is a Microsoft Power Platform capability that lets you use prebuilt or custom AI models in Power Automate and Power Apps. Here, you will use its prebuilt invoice-processing model to extract fields such as the invoice number, vendor name, purchase-order number, and invoice total from a PDF. You do not need to train a model for this tutorial. Powe

What’s a practical way to convert text to audio for listening to long articles, notes, and other written content? The goal is to hear the full text rather than an AI-generated summary. Clear voices, adjustable reading speed, and the ability to resume where playback stopped would be useful. It would also help to organize several items into a playlist and keep listening while doing other tasks, without manually starting each one.Are there free options that handle longer texts well? Please mention any character limits, listening restrictions, or features that require a subscription. Saving the audio would be a bonus, but a specific file format isn’t essential.

Got locked out of my iPhone and can't remember the password. Find My iPhone wasn't turned on beforehand, so the usual iCloud erase option through Find My iPhone isn't available to me.I still have the device in hand and can prove it's mine (original box, proof of purchase). What's the correct way to reset an iPhone without passcode in this situation? Is it a recovery mode restore through Finder/iTunes, or do I need to go through Apple Support directly since Find My iPhone wasn't on? Would appreciate hearing from anyone who's been through this.

Every time I remove an app from my startup list in Task Manager or Settings, it seems to reappear after a reboot or a while later, even though I'm sure I turned it off. Why does this keep happening, could it be the app re-enabling itself after an update, a registry entry I'm not clearing, or a scheduled task doing it behind the scenes, and how can I stop it for good?

Executive SummaryAs enterprise conversational AI matures, organizations quickly run into the "Monolithic Agent Dilemma": a single bot tasked with answering IT questions, navigating HR benefits, generating financial forecasts, and resetting passwords quickly becomes unmanageable. Maintenance turns brittle, topic trigger collisions skyrocket, and system prompts balloon beyond effective context windows. The industry solution is Multi-Agent Architecture—decoupling monolithic agents into specialized, bounded worker agents governed by an intelligent supervisor agent. In this article, we break down how to architect, build, and deploy an enterprise-grade multi-agent ecosystem using Microsoft Copilot Studio, complete with orchestration patterns, state-passing best practices, and graceful human-in-the-loop (HITL) escalations.1. The Architectural Shift: Monolith vs. Multi-AgentIn traditional chatbot design, all logic resides in a single container. In a multi-agent system, agents mimic a real-world enterprise organizational chart with a Front-Door Supervisor Agent, specialized Worker Agents (IT, HR, Finance), and human escalation queues.
